The Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve is the protected area which lies in the eastern side of Nepal in the Sunsari, Saptari and Udayapur district.This area covers 175 sq. km. of land. Koshi tappu is a name traslated from 'River Island' which is also the last habitat of the endangered arna (long, pointy-horned wild water buffalo).The area is home to 31 species of mammals and at least 493 species of birds.A small flood plain of Sapt Kosi River is a wonderful place for most of the travellers who visit in search of rare species of birds like Swamp Francolin, Bengal Florican and Sarus Crane.There are plenty of animals to see like blue bulls, deer, golden jackals, marsh muggers, fishing cats, mongooses, civet cats and porcupines.Dolphins are also spotted from the bridge at Koshi Barrage.The place is best for all nature lovers seeking peace within a paradise of nature.
